Downtown Taxi

Within the city center, taxis can be hailed at almost any time and also can be found at taxi ranks or ordered by telephone. Most taxis operate as part of one of Toronto’s major dispatching companies
Diamond Taxi, Crown Taxi. Taxi drivers are commonly tipped around 15% of the fare.
Driving in the City

Traffic is heaviest during the rush hours (0730-0930 and 1630-1930), particularly on the major motorways leading in and out of the city, which can make driving to the airport a longer than expected ordeal. Toronto is laid out on an easy-to-follow grid system, with a few notable exceptions, such as the Don Valley Parkway, snaking along the ravine east of the city center. Yonge Street, allegedly the longest street in the world, is the city’s main thoroughfare, bisecting the city center into east and west. Its junction with Bloor Street forms the city’s most major and central intersection.
Although there is a lot of street parking available, it is notoriously difficult for drivers to find a spot and many opt for the simpler although slightly more expensive option of parking in a private car park.
Taxi Fares in Toronto and GTA

The City of Toronto has little information available online regarding taxi fares. You can check out the Toronto taxi training site, for some information on taxis in Toronto. You will learn there that trips to Toronto Pearson airport have optional flat fares, and lots of information on how to become a Toronto taxi driver.
Please remember that the taxi fare is estimated. Traffic and other factors will affect the actual fare. Tips aren't included in the fare, and they are appreciated. Tolls are also not into account, which are your responsibility. Sorry, this site does not yet support trips outside of Toronto and the immediate area. Airport limos, car services, etc, are of course priced differently.
